anatomy practical #2.

i've been studying my butt off for this upcoming anatomy practical. we had two this semester total and this is the second one. i'm feeling pretty good about it, i found a bunch of different study tools, but i will never feel 100% confident. it's just the way i am with exams, though. i will always have some kind of doubt. i think i might take my computer with me to study some more during lecture, but i'm not sure. i'm tired of sitting and studying and gah! i'm sore. and tired. and burnt out. but it will be over after tomorrow and then i won't even have to worry about it anymore. it will be such a nice relief not to have to go to lab anymore. although i did enjoy it 150 times more than i could ever enjoy lecture. but you have to do what you have to do. here's hoping i ace this practical and put it behind me with a smile. :)

200th post.

I just wanted to take a second to acknowledge the fact that my last post was my 200th post.

I have posted 200 blog entries since my first post on December 28, 2008.

That's a lot of posts in nearly a year.
On average, that's about 16 posts/month & 3 posts/week.

I'd like to make that number much higher, and that will be a large part of my New Years resolution.
(I never do those).

happy thanksgiving!

i'm thankful for:
<3 my family. i'd be nowhere without them. the support they give me is above & beyond anything i could ever imagine. they are amazing and i'm so grateful for everything they have taught me & given me. and i'm so glad to have them in my life.
<3 my friends. they are sometimes frustrating and it's hard to keep up with all of them, but i'm grateful for them. they make me happy and make a lot of bad times much better.
<3 my boyfriend. he's always there, and regardless of our little tiffs or disagreements, i'm glad to have spent 4 thanksgivings with him. :)
<3 the opportunity to get an education. that sounds weird, but i'm really grateful for the fact that i'm able to go as far as i have in furthering my education. it's going to be great to be thankful for my bachelor's. i've worked really hard and it's going to pay off. i don't feel like i would have done enough with my life if i didn't go to college. and i'm glad i've worked this hard, regardless of any struggles i've had.
<3 my job. it's not much, but i'm lucky. i know how it feels to struggle without work now, and it's not pretty. i'm thankful for everyone at work & i'm lucky to have all of the people around me to keep me motivated. i may only make $8/hr. but it's more than i was making when i wasn't working, and they are very flexible with school.

more to come. i'm finishing cranberry sauce, cookie brownie bars, and stuffing.

ANNIVERSARY:

BIRTHDAY:

I made chocolate cake, and then made homemade cream cheese frosting. I then put frosting and Oreos between the layers and then frosted and Oreo'd the entire cake. He decided to take a bite out of it.

Sorry for the crappy pictures, but I don't have time to get my Nikon out. :D

Overall, good weekend. :) I guess we are going out to dinner with everyone on Tuesday because Octavio leaves Wednesday. & they are having food at his house tomorrow for his birthday.

happy birthday, tyler!

happy birthday, tyler!

i can't believe how old we all are now. it seems like just yesterday he was 19 and i was 18. wow. cousin turned 21 & brother will be 21 in a couple of months. where in the hell are all of these years going? why is it all running together in a gigantic blur. sad!!

going to take chris the nascar tickets soon, and then finish up tyler's birthday cake. he's here but has no idea what's going on. :D his birthday present will be for me to go to his house and fold all of his laundry. you can't see anything in his room but clothes.

total wine

so tonight tyler & i decided will be a drinking night? he plans on getting me drunk. so we went to the new Total Wine by my house and we got a bunch of random liquor. haha. we got:

UV Lemonade 30% alc./vol.
that shit is really strong, first of all. i'm going to taste them all as i post them on here. omg.

awful. omg. wtf is this shit? i am so bad at being an alcoholic. WHY does it taste so awful??

i'm honestly scared to open and taste this one after that last one. wow. okay. yea, just as bad. man i suck at this drinking thing.

tyler picked this for himself, guess he's never had it. so he's going to try it.

i also got a bottle of "the club long island iced tea", but it's in the freezer & i couldn't find a picture online. i think what we will do is make some mixed drinks with that other shit. i don't know. we'll figure it out. i'm so disturbed by the taste of all of this alcohol. haha.

4 year anniversary

So yesterday was our 4 year anniversary. It's crazy to think back that far and realize all of the things we've been through together. I am happy he & and I have been together this long, and look forward to many, MANY more anniversaries together.

This year I got off of work & he had a driver come out and get me. I got in the Excursion and he had flowers with him. SO cute. The driver took us to the nail place by my house & Tyler paid for me to get a manicure. I've been talking about it for some time, and we actually had talked about going tomorrow, but this was so much cuter. :) After that, the driver took us to my house to change and get ready, and we went to dinner. We hung out at CPK and ate, and saw Cisco & Cece. We had some time left and we went to The Gelato Spot and got some dessert. After that, the driver took us back to my house, I changed into comfier clothes and we went to his house and watched Monsters vs. Aliens. That movie was awful, but that's alright. :) It was a great night overall. He's the best. & he's SO good at pretending like nothing is going on and lying to me. But, I guess I can forgive him. :)

Here's a blurry picture of the flowers, he took it with his phone. He hand picked each flower, and they bundled them for him. There is a single red rose in there somewhere, and only one because i'm his "one and only true love". :D

Here's a picture of me with the flowers. I was really tired by the time this picture was taken, but you get the idea. Too bad you can't really see my outfit. At least you can kind of get an idea of my new hair color and you can see my nails. :D I'm not sure why the rose didn't show up in these pictures. I'll work on that today.

Happy 4 Year Anniversary, Babe. :)

baked potato soup

Ingredients

3 leftover baked potatoes

2 teaspoon(s) margarine

1 medium yellow onion, chopped

3 cup(s) vegetable stock

1 tablespoon(s) chopped green onion

3 cup(s) skim milk

1 cup(s) half-and-half

Whipped sour cream or unflavored yogurt

Shredded colby cheese

3 green onions (whites and greens), finely chopped

Directions

Pare the potatoes, reserving the skins, and dice.

Melt the margarine in a skillet and sauté the onions until tender.

In the container of a blender, combine 1 cup of the stock and the potato skins. Process on high until smooth.

In a soup kettle or Dutch oven, combine the milk, potatoes, the sautéed onions, the mixture from the blender, and half-and-half. Bring to a boil, and immediately remove from heat.

Place a dollop of sour cream in each bowl, sprinkle with a little cheese, and spoon the soup over the top. Garnish with green onion, and serve immediately.
