t.q. #32

So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from,we can still choose where ever we go from there.

peas in a pod?

Instructions:
For the pod:

With an F hook and pea green yarn, ch 4 and turn. (Starting from the next row, always ch 1 turn at the end of each row)
Sc across row (3)
Sc across row again (3)
2sc in first st, sc, 2sc in last st (5)
Sc across row 4 times
Inc in middle once and sc the rest (6)
Sc across row (6)
Sc, dec middle two sc, sc (5)
Sc across 4 times
Dec , sc, dec (3)
Sc across row
Sc across row again

Ch 1, sc around edge. It will curl in on itself a little, which is good!
Finish off and leave about 16 inches of tail.

For the peas:

Ch 2, 4sc into 2nd ch from hook. Join. (4)
Ch 1, 2sc into same st, sc into next. Repeat all the way around. (Make sure right side is facing outwards and keep the original yarn end tucked inside) Join.
Ch 1; sc into same stitch and all the way around. Join.
Ch 1; sc next 3, dec, sc the rest. Join.

Stuff pea lightly and do NOT ch 1. Sc, then dec, and repeat (sc,dec) until the pea is closed up. (It will get a little tight crocheting at this point). Finish off and tuck end inside.

Repeat the above Pea instructions to make another.

Now is the time to embroider beads or a mouth. You can also do it before you close up the pea. I arranged the eyes and mouth so that the pea is wider horizontally (smush it a bit if necessary).

Weave in the original yarn end on pod, preferably on the right side (inside of pod where peas go) in the “corner,” because this area will be tucked together shortly and won’t show.

With the long tail, thread a needlepoint needle, and pinch the ends of one side of the pod together. Stitch the first two sets of sc on top together, pulling tightly. Pinch the other side and see if the peas fit in there well.

With yarn on the inside, thread through the middle of the pea, entering from the side. Then stitch the bottom loop of the sc along the rim of the pod directly next to the top left side of the pea, so that it “gathers” this part of the pod. Continuing, do the same thing to the inside loop but at the bottom left of the same pea, to “gather” the bottom.

Stitch through the second pea in the same way you did the first and also work the pinched side of the pod the same way as the first. Snip and weave in end. How cute!

i've decided

i've decided that it's not worth the wait, or the struggle. that perhaps it's not worth my time. it's complicated, and i just don't see it coming together in any way that i need it to. i feel bad. but it's more mentally draining than anything. personal struggles are something i've been trying to deal with and remove from my life. so i'm sorry, but i think that maybe you'll have to go, too. it takes two to tango.

bass pro

yesterday tyler came over and picked me up for lunch. we went to basha's to get stuff for me to make baked ziti for dinner. and then we got subway and came home. after i ate lunch, i started on dinner. it tasted pretty good, for the most part, it was exciting! after that, tyler, tawnya, and i went to bass pro. well first i went and picked her up, and hung out there with her, chris, and my handsome little lover christopher. and then we went to tyler's, he took us to starbucks for black tea lemonades, and we went. we spent a couple hours there, i'd say. we looked forever at the fishing lures, trying to find the best ones. i got two and tyler got three. and then we got tyler's little brother silas a shirt so we can send it to him in washington. because apparently they don't have a bass pro there? but yea. we did that, and it was a lot of fun. today we are supposed to hang out before tyler gets off of work, but i haven't talked to her, and it makes me sad! today is her last day of not working for like 4 or 6 days, too. so it would be perfect. :( but anyways. i got the insurance paperwork from the lady at the orthodontist, so i have to deal with that, now. <3

camping

this weekend went surprisingly well. there were a few hiccups here and there. but nothing that would spoil the trip, really. i learned that i'm pretty good at fishing, but not so much at handling the fish. this we already knew, but neither tyler nor i really knew how scared i actually was until i started catching the fish. we stayed at whitehorse in williams, and it was a really nice place. it was nice to get away and spend some quality time with tyler. it was interesting being away from home and all of the stuff here that long, but things went well out there. his family was, well, his family. haha. there's not much more you can say about them. but it was worth the trip. now it's time to start planning the trip we are taking with MY family in two weeks. ;) this time, i get to take my quad. & can i just say that i hope it's raining & muddy!!! :) goodnight.

"All my like I had been looking for something, and everywehre I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naive. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself."

friday

i'm supposed to go camping with tyler today. i decided that i would take my chemistry stuff with me and we could work it out. and that i would meet with a tutor online monday when we got home. but now that's not going to happen. my dad is really upset about some things that are going on at home, and i'm a big part of it. i was just talking to him online while he is at work, and now i'm crying because of it. i could run away from it and leave this weekend. but i know the whole time i'm gone all i'm going to be doing is thinking about what is going on at home. so i will stay. and i will cry. and i will deal with the wrath. i try to find happiness in all of this. and when i finally find some, something else happens. i can hardly handle myself anymore.

special thanks goes to securityville for this recipe!
i'm going to make them tomorrow!

You'll need...
2 sticks (or one cup) of margarine
1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
3 cups of Quaker Oats (old-fashioned or the quick variety)
1 cup raisins and dried cranberries.

Heat oven to 350 degrees; beat together the margarine & sugars until creamy; add eggs & vanilla and beat well; add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon & salt; mix well. Stir in oats, raisins/cranberries; mix well. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool one minute on the cookie sheet then transfer to a wire cooling rack.

EDIT! THIS IS THE BEST COOKIE RECIPE EVER! and i found it for myself under the lid of the oats. :) they turned out fantastic, and i'm glad i chose only to use the cranberries. i'm not a big fan of raisins

sunday

i've accomplished much today, but also very little. i got the trailer cleaned up with dad, and then we packed it up and hooked it back up to his truck and took it back to tempe. it was hot as heck, but we made it without any faults. minus losing 2 locks, one of which we found later. but we got that put back, so it's not in front of the house. we are going camping next week i think instead of this week since brother is still really sick. i'm praying i don't get it, but i'm also trying to talk to him and keep him company in his room, so we will see what happens. tyler wants me to go with them on friday, but i have to talk to dad and mom about it first. today i have homework to accomplish, and i have to work out. having that rest yesterday was amazing, because i hurt everywhere and pretty much had a hard time moving. today i'm still sore, but not like i was at all. so i will do that. and dad and i went to sam's club and fry's too, we are making pork tenderloin for supper!!! tasty life. i'm going to work on some of my to-do list. i've been doing pretty amazing with no soda. i haven't had it in well over a week, and i've drank a ton of water, which is really good, and a lot easier than i thought it would be. tyler is here. until later<3.

t.q. #19

"Love one another, but not make a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone.

Even as the string of the lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each others keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.

And stand together yet not too near together.
For the pillars of the temple stand apart.
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

For love is sufficient unto love.

tyler came over yesterday when i was finishing up my workout. we went to walgreens to get my ever so ungrateful and ill brother some medicine, and picked up a few other things for him. we got some jello (strawberry and raspberry) and mixed in a can of fruit cocktail and a can of sliced peaches. (the peaches were an accident...) haha. and then we watched the haunting in connecticut from redbox(our new favorite thing) haha. it was crazy. it was based on a true story, so it was more real to me. and the main boy was ill and that was really hard to watch. he was hot though, for being really sick. but i only screamed a couple times, and once i made tyler jump too! but he won't admit it. haha. i know what i saw.

tonight is softball. we play another two games, but thankfully they don't start until 8:30 so the sun will be down and it won't be as treacherous outside for us to play. we were short a girl because i guess carrie is doing something, so i asked tawnya if she could get off of work early, and she is going to try. if nothing else we can have her play the 9:30 game, she can't possibly be late for that one! it just sucks ending so late, but after games i'm so tired and ready for sleep anyways that it really doesn't even matter. we are going to frys electronics with dad on our way to the game, too. he has to get some stuff for his servers.

this weekend we are having a pool party, i think. tawnya, christopher, and chris are going to come over. i think we will invite xavier if he comes tonight, and then see whoever else wants to come by. i talked to dad about it and he said it would be fine. beats sitting around all weekend being bored and lazy. that's no fun for anyone. :)

active

so yesterday i did my first workout with active personal trainer for wii. i've never done something so strenuous, i don't think. it doesn't help that it was already a tad warm in my house, but i've never sweat like that before. she had me doing a walk/run to start(short), some bicep curls, another run(medium), some arm stuff, some lunges, some squats, some other things, and another run(long). it was intense. but it felt really good when it was over, except that i felt like jello all over. haha. i finished the 22 minute workout in 18 minutes, though. so that was awesome. it's going to be great once i finish the 30 day challenge!!! oh and i failed to mention that was a "low intensity" workout versus the medium or high...crazy lady!

the pursuit of happyness

this movie was fantastic. i don't know how i haven't seen it before, but it was so good, and so touching. it proves that working for something you want is worth the fight.

sick

i feel as though i've been hit by a truck...i feel awful inside & out. and i can't handle it...i'm dying. wtf is wrong with me now? why is this happening again? suicide is not funny, but...when you feel this awful, you run out of options.

EDIT: my dad says i can either tell myself i'm alright & play it that way for a while, or go to the psychiatrist like my dr. says. i don't really know what to do. but i'm scared.

little amigurumi hippo

i finished my first amigurumi animal today. it turned out pretty cute for my first time making anything that wasn't a square or a rectangle...haha. here are a couple of pictures.
for some reason he looks grey, but really he's a light purple color.
i don't like the nostrils at all, but tomorrow i'll take them out and do them again.

i have not been feeling well at all today so this kind of helped me to relax. i've had a head, back, and neck ache all day, and a really upset stomach. i didn't get a chance to ride the bike or work out at all either, which sucks. but tomorrow i'm hoping i will be able to get up and do something. tyler wants me to go hang out with him for a little bit, and then we will probably go to the game store and get my active personal trainer. i'm not sure that there is anything else out there that i would rather have? i think i'm really going to try to go to sleep right now. i'm out of it, and my attempts last night failed due to my reading 48 pages into the time traveler's wife. it seems like it's going to be very good, it just takes a while to get used to the set up of the book. it jumps around quite a bit. that's all for today. tomorrow i will work on chemistry and hopefully start another project. not sure what's next. goodnight.

coffee lover

these would be super cute and practical, as well. i mean it doesn't get THAT cold in phoenix, but it would be nice to have one for those of us who are chicken to the chilly weather!!

here are the instructions:

Ingredients:
-Some scrap amounts (less then 50 yds) of Summit Hill by Kraemer Yarn Shop, 100% Merino Superwash wool, Worsted weight, Machine Washable (most important factor! you'll hate if you have to wash any of these by hand)
-H (5.00mm) hook
-2 (3/4") buttons
-needle to weave in ends.

Recipe:
CH 33
Row 1 (public side): Linked TR in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th ch from hook, Linked TR in each remaining ch across, CH 1, turn
{ Not sure what Linked TR is? Look at this pic, this pic, this pic, and this pic for help, Basically you insert your hook in to the previous stitch's horizontal bar then yarn over (its like crossing Tunisian crochet with regular crochet) still confused? then check out CrochetMe's winter issue where I have a tutorial on the stitch)
Row 2 (beer side): SC in first 2 TR, Ch 3, sk 3 TR, (button hole made) SC in ea remaining TR, CH 4, turn
Row 3: Linked TR in each SC across to button hole, 3 Linked TR in button hole, Linked TR in last 2 SC, CH 1, turn

Repeat row 2-3 once more, Fasten off, weave in ends.

(optional) With public side facing, join yarn and SL around entire bracelet. I do this just to give it a crisp finished look.
Add buttons as shown here to the opposite side from the button holes aligned with the SC rows.
Slip on and enjoy.

easy slippers

i think i'm going to make some of these. the flat style, not the mens one. i don't know what color to use, yet, but i think this will be a fun & easy project, and you could do tons of things to make them cute!!

here are the instructions:
Finished Size: Any size you want it!
Following the exact round and row count give: 4” (10 cm) wide, 9” (23 cm) long, fitting approximately a women’s size 6

Materials:
Medium Weight Yarn
Crochet Hook G (4.00 mm)
Yarn Needle
Measuring Tape or Size Chart
Scissors

Gauge: not important. For best fit, measure foot size and follow instructions for altering slipper.

Need help understanding the abbreviations? Check out the crochet abbreviation chart.

Crochet Pattern: Slipper

Note: Round 1 – 8 starts the toe of the slipper by creating a circle. For best fit, make sure that the diameter of the circle is slightly smaller than the width of the wearer’s foot. To adjust the circle size, simply add or subtract rounds as needed.

Round 1: ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook, place marker: 6 sc
Round 2: 2 sc in each sc around: 12 sc
Round 3: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc) around: 18 sc
Round 4: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc) around: 24 sc
Round 5: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc) around: 30 sc
Round 6: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc) around: 36 sc
Round 7: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc) around: 42 sc
Round 8: (2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc) around: 48 sc

Continue increasing the circle until the diameter is slightly smaller than the width of the wearer’s foot.

Note: Round 9 – 27 creates the front/toe of the slipper. You may choose to make this portion as long or short as you desire. To adjust length add or subtract rounds as needed. The length of the slipper upon completion of these rounds should not go pass the ankle of the wearer’s foot.

Round 9 - 27: sc in each sc around: 48 sc

Continue until the desired length of the front of the slipper is obtained.

Note: Row 28 establishes the length of the two sides plus the bottom of the slipper. The length of this row should be greater than the diameter of the slipper. 30 single crochets is the recommended length that is used in this example. You may increase or decrease the number of single crochets made to better fit your slipper size.

Row 28: sc in next 30 sc: 30 sc

Note: Row 29 – 43 creates the rest of the slipper, which includes heal and back of foot. Upon completing this set of rows your slipper should exactly reach the back of the wearer’s ankle. Increase or decrease the number of rows as you see necessary.

Row 29 – 43: ch 1, turn, sc in next 30 sc: 30 sc

Finish off. With yarn needle, sew back of slipper together.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

tawnya's presents

this post is a little late, but i've been busy! :)

this was when i finally got it sewed together, trying to decide how i'm going to put it together. i couldn't decide if i wanted to make it a book bag, or a real purse-like bag.

here is a finished picture. we realized after it was over that we needed to put fabric on the inside of the straps so that it wouldn't be super stretchy, but by the time my mind realized this it was too late and time for her party.

here's the inside. i took off all of the strings and stuff. it was a cute fabric i think, but for my first real crochet project, and just using what i had around, i think it turned out nicely.

i got her this stuff too.

and this is the last of it. it wasn't much, but it was the thought that counts. mom made her the bookmark and the monkey. :)

happy birthday, bfff!

twilight the game

vanessa and i found this game today at walgreens, and we are now playing it with tyler & brother. after our amazing sunday dinner that consisted of ribs, corn-not-so-on-the-cob, and twice-baked potatoes. ohhh && dutch apple pie for dessert. it's a good day. :)

i want to see:

although i had an extremely hard time finding a legit poster for this one, it's a given. who DOESN'T want to see this?! :) NOVEMBERRRRR.

this one looks amazinggg!!! i loved the first one, and this one is going to be even better. the previews looked great! but it doesn't come out until december. :(

i have to see this, just to see how fantastic the graphics are going to be, come on, you don't have to be a kid to love toy story!!! it comes out in october, i think??

i loveeee that jim carrey is scrooge in this one, and it looks awesome! definitely going to see this is 3-D in november!!!

ice age 3 in 3-D

yesterday afternoon, brother, mom, dad, & i went and saw this. it was really cute!! after we watched it we all realized we hadn't seen the second one, and that perhaps that might have helped us in understanding some of the material from the third. it was good though, and i definitely recommend going and seeing it in 3-D if you can! the ending was good, and the plot flowed well!! those squirrels get me every time. haha. i am determined to go see more 3-D movies this summer!!!

the unborn

last night we watched this movie. it was tyler, brother, cousin, and i. it was really creepy, but i only screamed a handful of times. a lot of the story plot stood solid, some of it threw me off, and it was undoubtably disturbing, but i can't say that i hated it. i cried in the theatre when we watched quarantine, but not this one, although it might have been a tad creepier. :)

confessions of a shopaholic

i had heard from a few different sources that this movie was going to be fantastic, but i found it nothing close to that. it was alright, it had an okay story line, and the love story part was alright, but it was just too...corny, i guess? i wouldn't recommend it, or watch it again, that's for sure.

i am now the proud owner of adobe cs4, thanks to xavier ibarra! he got it for me a long time ago, and we never got around to installing it. so last night when he came over to hang out, he installed it for me, and now it's mine! i just have to figure out what each tool does. that will be easier said than done, but it's going to be a fun ride.

thursday

it's thursday before the 4th of july weekend, and i don't really think anyone has plans? i was invited to go watch some fireworks with bethany & ash tomorrow, but...i don't know. i just have so many mixed emotions about all of that right now. i'm just having such a hard time understanding it all, and taking it all in. it's just so sad to me, it seriously breaks my heart. but, yea. so i don't know. my dad talked about having a little barbeque thing here this weekend, sometime. we will invite my aunt, and maybe xavier, i dunno who else yet, we haven't really talked about it. softball is cancelled though, which is kinda sad, except not? haha. everyone (well ALMOST everyone) has the day off tomorrow, so it will be cool to just hang out and relax all weekend. i've been really trying to help dad out with stuff around here. it's the least i can do, seeing as i can't find any outside employment.

my stupid macbook is falling apart, it's driving me nuts. the stupid cd-rom drive died this morning when i went to play sims. and the usb port on the right side is broken. i'm so frustrated. everyone was like apple is so fantastic it's the greatest ever, never had any problems. WHATEVER. that's the biggest crock of crap i've ever heard. stupid apple people.

it's been fun to reminisce about old stuff with people lately, too. that's always so much fun when you can think of all of the things that have happened to get you to where you are right now. what a crazy roller coaster my life has been. i'm so tired, though, and it's hard to stay motivated on anything. but we're dealing with that slowly, but surely. i've got more stuff to take care of. off i go!

sims 3

i now officially own sims 3, thanks to tyler! i'm so excited, but i had to stop playing. i was up WAY too late last night, and he said i to be in bed by 10pm. which was a few minutes ago, but i had to quit and take some time to check all of my stuff. it's pretty fun, but definitely a lot to get used to, and a lot to learn!

today we went to tyler's cardiologist, and well that was exciting, to say the least. he has another appointment tomorrow, but it's for his wrist with his primary. and well, that was really the high points of the day! other than what i posted online, and the e-mails i got in response. time for sleep. goodnight!

craig's list

i've become a little bit of a craig's list fanatic.

i'm selling anything i can think of to get money to help out myself, and my daddy in these times of need. there is really a lot of things around here that don't necessarily do us any good, so why not make a bit of a profit? it's much easier than setting up a yard sale. especially in this heat, that's NO FUN at all!

so far i've listed:
♥dad's old atari
♥my fox riding pants (SO sad i grew out of them!!!)
♥my old mountain bike

to be listed:
♥more bikes
♥sega genesis & games
♥playstation & games
♥dirtbike tires

edit: i got an email about the atari and the bike. he wants pictures of the bike, so i will send them to him tomorrow!

july is here

hello, july!

life right now feels so off for me. i just don't feel like i'm anywhere near where i need to be. && i'm struggling it much more than i had ever imagined. nothing feels like it's in place lately, and i just don't feel okay about anything. i'm so down on life, and have no motivation for anything. nothing is bringing me joy like it normally does, and i can't get excited about anything. i need/want to feel normal again. i just don't feel good right now, and it's really hard to deal with.

i need to catch a break, i need something amazing to happen, i need a miracle!
